The Advantages Of Boutique Hotels

tour-guide

One of the reasons boutique hotels are so popular is because they directly oppose the accepted hotel normality of hundreds of rooms and bland service. Their refusal to treat guests as anything other than honoured visitors means that they spend time, money and energy developing a hotel where you feel comfortable and at home. This can only really be achieved with low room numbers.

Hotels in this sector have discovered that travellers are willing to pay for accommodation that is different in design and where even full occupancy means they’re not queuing for breakfast or waiting for room service to answer the phones. Instead, fewer rooms means more space and better service, and an increasing number of travellers are taking this option.

Space

Space is important to travellers, particularly those for whom the hotel is an integral part of the experience. Whilst other holiday makers or business travellers simply use a hotel as a base for sleeping and eating, boutique hotel guests want to feel that they can spend the morning drinking coffee and reading in the public areas without feeling like a nuisance, or relax by the pool without worrying about fighting for poolside space with other guests. By taking a definite decision to reduce the number of bedrooms so that each room has more space and by fashioning public areas that guests actually want to use, boutique hotels create a unique atmosphere that appeals to guests.

Design

Boutique hotels are often based in older, traditional buildings where creating larger guest rooms means considerable changes to the internal design of the building. Sympathetic architectural changes can be achieved with careful planning and this allows hotel owners and their designers to maintain and incorporate original features into a more modern, spacious room design. From keeping original windows to fitting the most modern of bathrooms, clever design allows these hotels to provide fewer rooms, whilst at the same time preserving the essential features of the building.

Service

The smaller the number of guests, the better the service can be. This is a concept that’s fully understood by the boutique industry and it strives to ensure that standards of service are exceptional. Any contact that the guest has with a member of staff should be a positive one and, in many cases, members of staff are trained to anticipate guests’ needs, ensuring that they are comfortable asking for anything, including help with activities outside the hotel as well as the facilities within it.

Lowering the number of rooms in a hotel, combined with good design, quality fittings and excellent service all combines to make a hotel unique and that’s what today’s travellers want.

Attract Customers To Your Hotel With The Perfect Advert

mountains

Getting people to come to your hotel should be easy, but with the recession it’s more difficult than it was in the past. There are still just as many hotels, but there aren’t as many people taking holidays because of the cost. More and more people who do travel are taking staycations, where they remain very close to home, sometimes even in their own town. These can be beautiful and they can be a lot of fun, but as a hotel owner you need to remind people of that. You also need to pull in the people who come from other areas so that they will stay at your hotel instead of going to another one. One of the ways that you can advertise your hotel and all that you have to offer is by offering great deals and great specials to customers who have stayed with you before. By contacting them and asking if there is anything that you can offer them they might be enticed to come back to your hotel, especially if they had a good experience with you the first time. You can also increase the efforts that you make where public relations are concerned. Inviting a travel writer to stay overnight for free is a good way to get a good review, and that’s advertising that’s virtually free.

When you advertise, you want to be sure to let people know what sets your hotel apart. If you offer a great amenity that’s not that common, or is common but you offer it at a great price, let people know. If you have won awards or if you pride yourself on something specific, make sure you tell people. They want to know why they should spend their holidays with you, and you’ll need to tell them so that they can make their choice. You won’t win over everyone that way, but you’ll get a lot more business with a good advert than you’ll get with one that you didn’t put that much time into, so make the effort to let your advert really stand out. It’ll be worth the time and the money that you put into it.

CitizenM Hotel NYC

tour-guide

The new citizenM hotel in the heart of New York City on West 50th Street, in the middle of the theatre district, just off the corner of Broadway, and only three blocks north of Times Square is as -busy’ as its neighbourhood!

Rising from the ethos of this buzzing metropolis and featuring all its signature elements – from 14sq.m. mood-pad oriented guest rooms with lux washroom and interiors; floor-to-ceiling glass walls, plush interiors, loads of customized interactive spaces, aesthetically juxtaposed and emotionally connecting interior-exterior dynamics, et al – the hotel once again endorses its -luxury on a budget- motto.

Amazingly synchronised as a franchise, the hotel design rises up to the contextual architectural elements via its colours, art and eclecticism. Designed as a space that can cater to both locals and travellers, the hotel establishes an instant connect with its massive wall art -Come One, Come All’ on the facade, created by artist Jen Lui – a piece of art that refers to the historical context of Times Square. Once inside another centrally positioned striking artwork in the heart of the living room by Julian Opie as well as a rooftop bar has walking people carved into the granite cladding of the elevator core and filled with gold leaf. The artwork also divides the space in two: the double height living room area and the lower adjacent area with canteenM under the mezzanine floor. Contextually tuned in to the spirit of Times Square, the 22-storey, slim black aluminium clad and stucco building tower is set back from the street by a small attractive plaza and a rooftop bar – both designed as recognisable glass volumes that are almost carved out of the mass to accentuate the distinctive social function they have within the hotel. Above, a series of identical bedroom windows, the width of a bed, show the rooms, individually illuminated depending on the mood of the guest. The double-height ground floor, rooftop bar and artwork are more expressive, bright and dynamic, emphasising the importance of citizenM’s communal life and connection with art. Strategically placed designer furniture completes the plush ambience in these communal spaces.

In totality, the hotel continues to define the multi-functional qualities of modern mobile travellers by offering an environment that is suitable for work, play, socialising or relaxation.
